Autumn is upon us, so it's time to start preparing for winterizing your classic car. Here is a checklist that will allow you to prepare everything you will need when the time comes.
You don't have a garage, your shelter is dirty and damp or you simply want to maximize protection during car storage, opt for our inflatable car cover. It is an auto bubble which represents a real cocoon within which the air is healthy and clean (controlled humidity). It is available for indoors but also for outdoor protection.
Exterior:
Body and exterior shampoo
Sponge, wheel wash mitt, microfibers, polish applicators and chamois
clay gum
Soft polish and polish finish
wax painting
Glass cleaner and sealant
Protective product for vinyl, rubber, chrome and metal parts
Rustproofing for unpainted surfaces.
Chassis lubrication for vintage cars
Interior:
Plastic cleaner
Microfibers and polishing sponge
Leather cleanser and moisturizer
Textile seat cleaner if applicable
Brush to remove dirt in the recesses
Batteries:
If you cannot run your car's engine every 2 or 3 weeks, provide a charge maintenance device to keep the battery charged throughout the winter.
Indeed, the battery can lose its autonomy and even be unable to provide the power necessary for starting if it remains uncharged for too long.
Fluids
Fuel additive: if necessary, in order to avoid corrosion of the tank.
Coolant and brake fluid: replace them (4-season coolant).
Grease for fat spots and joints.
Oil and grease absorbent tray or mat under the car.
Other preventive operations
Cloths: to plug the carburettor inlet and the exhaust outlet.
Talc, silicone or Marseille soap: on all door, boot and bonnet seals.
Small wedges to be placed under the wiper arms.
Dehumidifying sachets placed inside the car if the carport/garage is not heated.
